CEREC (Chairside Economical Restorations of Esthetic Ceramic, a set of technologies, equipment and materials for the manufacture of dental miсro-prosthesis (inlays, veneers, crowns), machined from ceramic blocks using specialized CAD / CAM system. Developed at the University of Zurich.

Prosthetics using CEREC done in one session. Odontopreparation (preparation for the restoration of teeth) is no different from conventional methods. Then compact scanner creates a three-dimensional computer model prepared for the prosthetic of cavity and surrounding tissues. The next step is a dentist within the model of the jaw generates a model of the ceramic prosthesis. Then selects the appropriate blank color and size, fits into a computer connected to the milling machine, then this machine a pair of diamond cutters cut the prosthesis. After 15-20 minutes, the prosthesis is ready and you are ready to fitting and fixing

Scanning device - a compact hand-optic video camera, combined with a projector laser grid, which the computer determines the geometry of the cavity by image.

The system projects the image of the cavity and surrounding tissues to the monitor, which allows the doctor or his assistant to use the CAD-part system for creating the design of the restoration. After completing the design of the restoration dentist starts milling unit (CAM-part of the system), which grinds the restoration from blocks of high quality ceramics in minutes. Restoration extracted from the milling unit, ready to be tested design and fixation.
